Tweet:Lance Armstrong Returns Olympic Medal To Us Olympic Committee.
When Lance Armstrong took home the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, his fame was just beginning. Already America’s darling given his inspiring return from advanced stages of testicular cancer that had spread to both his brain and lungs, the cyclist was at the beginning of a record-setting streak of seven consecutive Tour de France titles between 1999 and 2005. Little did he know that just 13 quick years later, his stardom would come crashing back to Earth. After admitting to doping in a January 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Armstrong was stripped of his medal by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Today, Armstrong tweeted that he has sent that medal back, including a picture of the medal itself.
