Ross Barkley Could Have Played For Nigeria: His Father Is Nigerian

There are many Nigerians in England we all know that, and many have children who are coming of age ready to take the football world by storm. Now, there are very few places for all of them to play for the England national team so they would always be available to play but not while they are 32 like Shola Amoebi, why not when they are 20 like Ross Barkely, yes your eyes are not deceiving you, his father is Nigerian and his mother is white.

Months before being called up for England, Barkley gave the indication of his availability for Nigeria while answering random questions on Everton’s official website recently. If you are a keen football fan then i do not need to tell you about his qualities, he is just too good. For me, i am a blogger so my eyes and ears are always open for good news, so i follow everything including football.

When asked which national teams he is eligible to play for, Barkley simply replied – England and Nigeria. Already Barkley, 20 has featured for England at the U16, U17, U19, and U21 levels so it is only natural that the country that trained and helped these players should have the first pick because come to think of it, they are British, my point is, with so few places, why is the Nigerian FA not doing more to get players who would want to play for Nigeria despite being British. Too late now, he is playing for England but there are more out there. ( Anichebe, Ibe, Ake etc)

Ross Barkley's grandfather is full Nigerian, his mum is white and dad mixed, he was eligible to play for Nigeria through his grandfather.
