An angry woman in Ogun absconded after allegedly murdering her landlady after a disagreement over electricity bills.

It was a sad sight to behold as residents of Mowe, a satelite town in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun State, woke up to the shock that a 33-year-old mother of two identified as Shakirat, had pounced on her landlady, Saidat Ishola, and strangled the woman to death, before absconding.

It was gathered that the landlady was sleeping in her apartment when Shakirat sneaked into the room and held her by the throat and snuffed life out of the old woman.

Neighbours report that Ishola and Shakirat had a little disagreement on Saturday morning over electricity bill and disconnection, with the tenant complaining that her apartment had been cut off from the power supply, while other tenants were enjoying light.
One of the landlady's sons, Samson Ishola,  recounted the circumstances that led to his mother's murder.

"The woman, (Shakirat), fought with my mum and tore her clothes. She complained that the power supply to her apartment was disconnected. Some elders in the area settled the matter for them.

My mother and Shakirat went back to their different apartments. Unfortunately, we were told later in the evening that Shakirat went back to my mother’s apartment where she was sleeping and strangled her to death.
I had left home very early in the morning to my workshop. It was in my workshop that someone told me to go back home that my mother and one of our tenants were fighting her.

When the suspect was strangling my mum, my uncle’s pregnant wife who was in the bedroom relaxing heard the scream of my mother.
She ran into the apartment and tried to assist my mother, but the suspect overpowered her. Immediately the suspect killed my mum, she ran away without taking anything from her room."

Policemen from Mowe Police Station deposited the victim’s body at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital while the hunt for the killer has been intensified.
