Governor Adams Oshiomhole has stopped farmers currently farming in government reserved forest in Okada, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State from paying N40m annual royalty to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin kingdom.
The land located in Okada, where the Esama has his University was leased to him by the government who in turn sublet the land to farmers. On a visit by the Yoruba farmers to the State Governor, he told them to stop the payment immediately that the land has been reverted to the state government.

During his 8 years as governor, more than 151 billion naira was allocated and nothing to show for it. He was later asked by Justice Abdul Tafarati of the Federal High Court in Enugu to refund a just N3.5 million as a fine.
