The University Teaching Hospital of Delta State (DELSUTH), Oghara has been equipped with an advanced physiological and chemical status sensor monitoring equipment to take care of infants during the first month after birth. The State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan on Thursday launched the equipment for the neonatal unit of the hospital and a special telephone network service that would enable the clinic to give expert advice on child care to other hospitals in the state.
A neonatal unit cares for babies born early, babies with breathing difficulties or feeding problems and babies with infection or abnormalities.
The equipments would enable experts provide better care for babies in the first 28 days of thier life, especially babies born prematurely. Uduaghan described the machines as part of measures of his administration's holistic health plan to reduce infant mortality, adding that more of such equipment would be procured to meet growing demands.
A governor that cares for the State's medical sector is undoubtedly a good governor.
