The combined efforts of some vigilante operatives and policemen in Awoye/Ubale waterways in Ilaje area of Ondo State have led to the arrest of four suspected sea pirates.
The suspects had robbed passengers their goods and cash at gun point.
Those arrested are Felix Okiki from Edo State; Godspower Happy from Warri, Delta State; Kingsley Sunday from Warri, Delta State and Okunmagbo Ibere also from Warri, Delta State.
After the suspects succeeded in robbing the passengers and while trying to escape with their loots nemesis caught up with them.
Vigilante operatives and policemen policing the waterways reportedly noticed their activities and intercepted them at a point in Awoye.
A shoot-out reportedly ensued between the suspects and the security operatives leading to the arrest of the suspects. The other suspects reportedly fled.
Contacted, the state police spokesman, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the arrest of the four suspects.
Ogodo said that two of those arrested sustained serious gunshot injuries and are currently on admission at the Specialist Hospital, Igbokoda.
