Is it fair that the mother of two young kids was arrested after she left them in a car so she could go to a job interview?
The online community says “No!”
Earlier this week, an Arizona woman by the name of Shanesha Taylor was arrested, thrown in jail and is facing child abuse claims after police say she left her two sons inside a hot car while she went for a job interview last week.
Scottsdale police say a witness heard a child crying inside a SUV that was parked outside an office complex near 90th Street and Via Linda on Thursday.
A 2-year-old boy and a 6-month-old boy were inside the vehicle, which had the engine off, the doors closed and each of the four windows only slightly opened.
The car was reportedly parked in the direct sunlight and the witness didn’t see an adult around.
Upon returning from her interview, she was met by police and explained to them that she was homeless, unemployed and couldn’t get a babysitter. She was then placed under arrest and the kids taken by Child Protective Services. Bond was set at $9,000.

In hopes of raising the money needed to get her out, organizers started a fund for the mom. After her story made to it to several other media outlets, donations have exceeded the $9,000 goal and are now at over $22,000 and counting!
According to the organizer of the fundraiser, a 22-year-old student who was touched by Shanesha’s story, the rest of the money will go towards her legal bills and helping Shanesha out of her situation:
Part of it has been used for her bail but they have now decided to hold her until the 31st and we are working to find out why. All other money will be used to help Shanesha’s situation and legal pursuits.
It’s amazing to see the online community come together at times like this. The question is, will this recent arrest make it even harder for Shanesha to obtain a job to take care of her kids? Will there be resources available for her when she is set free?
This just made my day. For once pple are not judging. Just love and support for this suffering woman.
