Nigerian Senate Confirms Mr. Godwin I. Emefiele as Governor of Central Bank

Mr. Godwin I. Emefiele this morning has been confirmed as the new Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. His appointment or selection by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan was subject to approval by the Nigerian Upper House and this morning, that has been done, Mr Emefiele can now exhale and relax after this news.

Mr Emefiele resumes office with a wealth of knowledge and experience of more than eighteen years in the banking sector, haven served as Chief Executive officer and Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc. He served as Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc. since 2001, as Executive Director in charge of Corporate Banking, Treasury, Financial Control and Strategic Planning of Zenith Bank Plc and had been in the Management team since its inception.
