Star of Captain Phillips Movie Barkhad Abdi Is Struggling Despite Oscar Nomination

Last Sunday night, Barkhad Abdi, the Somali American actor who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in captain Phillips was mixing with the great and the good of Hollywood at the Oscars.

Barkhad 28 who was a former limo driver and mobile store attendant, was paid $65,000, a little more than the minimum $60,000 set by the Screen Actors Guild, to feature alongside Tom Hanks. The movie made over $218 Million at the box office. 2 Years after being paid, the money is spent and with no definite offers of work in the pipelines, he is completely broke. The producers is said to have given him a flashy car and fancy hotel suits for publicity and was never given for keeps.

I would advise him to remain hopeful, the movie has announced you and it can only get better, look at Lupita, after 12 years a slave movie role, she got another role as an air hostess is Liam Neeson's new movie, Non-Stop.
