Brazil vs Germany the most discussed sports game ever on Twitter.

The 35.6 million tweets during the game compare to the Super Bowl's 24.9 million as social media activity peaked with a record 580,166 tweets per minute.

Tuesday night's soccer World Cup semifinal between Germany and host nation Brazil not only set a record for the biggest win ever in a Cup semifinal.
It also attracted 35.6 million tweets, making it the most-discussed single sports game ever on Twitter, the social media platform said on Wednesday. This year's Super Bowl had reached more than 24.9 million tweets.

Before the match, the Brazil-Chile showdown during the Cup's Round of 16 led the list of most-tweeted-about games at the tournament with 16.4 million, followed by the Brazil-Croatia opening game with 12.2 million.
As Brazil suffered its worst defeat in the national team's 100-year history, the social media activity peaked with 580,166 tweets per minute when Sami Khedira scored, giving Germany a 5-0 lead en route to the 7-1 final.

That set a new record for tweets per minute. This Super Bowl had peaked with 381,605 tweets per minute.

The 4-0 goal by Toni Kroos was the second-most discussed moment of the match, reaching 508,601 tweets per minute. That was followed by his goal that made it 3-0, which garnered 497,425.

Twitter also said that Germany's most-mentioned players were striker Miroslav Klose, who on Tuesday became the all-time leading World Cup scorer with 16 goals, followed by Kroos and Thomas Muller.

On the Brazilian squad, goalkeeper Julio Cesar drew the most tweets, followed by Oscar and striker Fred.
