"Princess of The Creek People!" haahhaahahaha
Seriously, every out reach program teaches me something important about God, life, humanity, humility and gratitude to God for everything!!
This trip to Bayelsa is no exception. Many people (including my boyfriend...yes baby, i'm calling you out! lol) did not support this trip because they felt Bayelsa is flowing with milk and honey simply because the President is from there.
Little do they know! Its a land over flowing with poverty, neglect, anger and cries for help.
We were received with happiness and gratitude. Yes, we met some that felt they are owed the world, but they too eagerly took the rice and medical treatment we gave them.
Ironically, the riverine community we've all fellen in love with due to their extreme warmth turns out to be a dangerous haven for criminals and cult boys!
We didnt know this when we went there on Tuesday; we just learnt this last night! Even government officials dont go there because they are gangster there! This is Ayama Ijaw in Southern Ijaw.
All the boys have declared undying love and loyalty to their Princess!! I have been told to come back any time i want becauae their community os now mine.
As a matter of fact, they kept saying to each other "mount Princess" and i was like, "hey, na who una won mount?!?" hahahhahahahahhah
Turns out, it means "protect Princess" from the crowd. I was so moved by their welcome. They danced, welcomed us and the boys even used their own money to buy drinks for us! I was moved to tears.
We have been to many communities. Still more to go before its over tomorrow. Seen the same thing..people in need of severe help! We cry of lack of constant electricity in other states, they dont even have electricity at all!
They dont have tap water. No toilets in the communities. The polluted creeks sustains them. They drink, cook, bath, wash their clothes and excrete into the same waters. Yet, they have hope that God will see them through.
I thank God, Dana Group, Nigeria Customs Service and those that gave what they had to support this program.
Yes, God truly doesn't forget His own. He is faithful!!
God bless you.
