Katsina Police Command Intercepts 850 Machetes

According to The Daily Trust: The Nigerian Police Command in Katsina State said they intercepted the transportation of 850 machetes a couple of days go, allegedly being smuggled being smuggled for nefarious purposes. Security is being stepped up around the whole country as Nigerians take to the polls in Next month's election.

Deputy Commissioner Police Bala Zama Senchi, who disclosed this at a meeting with political parties in the state, declined to to comment on the identity of the direct culprit.

Senchi, who noted that the machetes were new, warned that the command would not tolerate intimidation or any act capable of causing unrest before, during and after the elections.
He said politicians must operate within the ambit of the law.
He added that the police are non partisan and committed to ensuring peaceful conduct of the exercise.
Senchi called on parties to submit their campaign timetables to the police to avoid clashes and confrontations during campaigns.
“We must collaborate for a successful election,” he said.
