Video:90-year-old president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe stumbles on a red carpet in Harare

President Robert Mugabe fell down steps on Wednesday afternoon after speaking to supporters in Harare upon his return from Ethiopia.

Video obtained by The Associated Press appeared to show 90-year-old Mugabe missing a step and falling when he left the raised lectern at the airport, according to several witnesses, who insisted on anonymity because of security concerns.

His aides quickly helped him up and escorted him to his limousine.
 Mugabe was elected chairman of the 54-nation African Union at a summit of African leaders on 30 January in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He celebrates his 91st birthday on 21 February.
