Tragedy has hit the Nigerian football, as Eweje Oladele Michael, who played for Nigerian Professional Football League(NPFL) side Shooting Stars last season, lost his life after undergoing appendix surgery.
The news of the 22-year-old midfielder’s demise was made known by his past and present team-mates. His death was further confirmed by Shooting stars’ media officer Jubril Arowolo adding that he died after a nearly successful appendix operation. Eweje played for Shooting Stars in the first half of last season before moving to former club, Remo Stars, during the mid-season transfer window.

This is another death occurrence recorded in Nigerian football following the death of former Nasarawa United captain Baba Idris, and host of other death tragedies of Nigerian players last year.
