Former presidential aspirant Umaru Shinkafi has died-Pres,Buhari Mourns.

Nigerian politician, former intelligence chief and former Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs, Umaru Shinkafi has died. The presidential aspirant during the Third Nigerian Republic who hails from Zamfara state, died at a hospital in London at about 4:07pm. His body is expected to be flown back to Nigeria by Friday, July 8, for final internment.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto State on the death of a former presidential aspirant, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, who he described as one of their illustrious sons.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President described the deceased as an expert whose contributions to the development of the security architecture of Nigeria remains indelible
Buhari recalled that the former Federal Commissioner of Internal Affairs and boss of the National Security Organisation played frontline roles in the activities leading to the eventual return and enthronement of democracy in the country.
