She performed on 12 Years a Slave, ever since, she has been getting all the attention.it seems Lupita Nyong'o has become Hollywood's new 'it' girl.The 30-year-old's latest project is making a splash as she graces the cover and gives a candid interview for Dujour magazine's latest issue.
She told the magazine that she is surprised at how much attention she has been receiving.
'My life changed about three weeks ago,' she said. 'That’s when my schedule went from nil to this.
'Lots of people come up and touch my back and want to give me a hug. At this point, it’s not too crazy. I let them hug me.'
On auditioning for her 12 Years a Slave role, the actress never thought she would get it. 'When I learned Steve McQueen was directing and Brad Pitt was producing, I thought, Well, this is huge.
'I had no expectation of getting the role at all; it was just too out there for me to think I had a chance.
'So I approached the audition like a rehearsal. It was my chance to have that role for 10 minutes, and I owned it. Then I got the part and the panic began.'
But there's no reason to panic anymore as Lupita not only nailed the part, but has received critical acclaim and several award nominations for her role as Patsey.
