"We want Dangote to buy Kano Pillars or Enyimba not Arsenal" Nigerians to Aliko Dangote.

Following the news that broke few days back of Dangote’s interest in buy London-based Arsenal Football club, most Nigerians on social media have called on the Africa’s richest man to buy a local club in Nigeria.

Emeka Nwani, a foremost Nigerian League Journalist questioned Dangote’s investment choice of an oversea football club over the local ones. “Is that something good, knowing that a huge investment in any local league club especially Kano Pillars will change a lot of things for the League in Nigeria?

Another commentator adds: “Dangote has every right to buy a team of his choice, but he must first help to build a local Nigerian team that the whole world will be proud to associate with like Chelsea. It is possible to have fire and action in the local setting. I look forward to that time, that Enyimba, Gombe United, Shooting Stars or Dangote Rocket (we can have a local team like that) will raise the stakes and make us excited and proud soccer fans!”.
Henry Okelue (@4eyedmonk) concurs “Aliko Dangote needs to buy a team in the NPL…maybe Kano Pillars, then go ahead and buy Ronaldo and Van Persie for them”.

Even arsenal fans like Erich Von Manstein add his voice to the local investment call: “I too am a fan of Arsenal. Frankly, if he succeeds, the first thing he should do is FIRE WEGNER! But, I don’t think buying Arsenal is the best. There is still so much he can do here in Nigeria. And, if he is so all fired up and keen about football, then let him elevate one of our sides to a higher level… Let Aliko do the same here for like Kano Pillars, that they must win Champions league”.
Similarly, Shina Martins said, “why doesn’t he begin charity from home by starting a football club here in Nigeria? I’m sure with his great wealth I believe he can set up an enviable and properly run club and easily attract fine talents even from outside these shores. Also @Waliyadeniran quipped that Dangote should purchase Kano pillars and other Nigerian billionaires should follow suit and buy Nigerian clubs”

  9. Only if Nigerians use this intensity on its leaders. The world is moving forward, new technology is science, transportation, education and Power (electricity) and Nigerian leaders are depleting the nation's commonwealth while its citizens fold their hands looking. Its shocking. The new President Buhari must do alot in a short time if not complete change but to plant the tree of draconian change.
