Arsene Wenger is facing a touchline ban despite his apology for pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor after he had already been sent off for a furious verbal outburst. The shove happened after Wenger became enraged at the referee’s decision to aware Burnley a penalty haven already sent off Granit Xhaka for a dangerous tackle. Arsenal ended up winning the game from a spot kick, awarded incorrectly. Replay showed Arsenal defended Laurent Koscielny was standing offside when he received a crossed ball.
The Football Association will today study referee Jonathan Moss’s report into the dramatic ending to Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Burnley but, amid the prospect of a misconduct charge, Wenger immediately admitted that he was in the wrong.
It a worth pointing that this isn’t the first time Wenger has been embroiled in a shoving incident. In 2014, Wenger was involved in an ugly spat with then Chelsea coach Mourinho and refused to apologise after appearing to shove the Chelsea coach in the technical area.
